Las Vegas, also known as Sin City, is a vibrant city with nearly endless things to do, luxury and decadence the order of the day. There are hundreds of hotels in Las Vegas that offer much more than lodging. There are five star restaurants, upscale shopping, exhibits of everything from jungle cats to aquariums to ancient Egyptian artifacts. There are dozens of souvenir shops along the Las Vegas Strip where you can buy souvenirs to take home. Most businesses are open 24 hours a day, so no need to bring your alarm clock.
Things really get rolling in the early evening where you can attend a musical or comedy performance from many big name stars, enjoy the magic of the Cirque Du Soleil, or choose from dozens of Broadway style shows. There are also many notable clubs and other night spots outside of the casinos where dancing and other nightlife is abundant. Gambling is available nearly everywhere in Las Vegas, even at grocery stores and gas stations.
Sight seeing is another option when in Las Vegas, and one of the few activities that won't cost you admission. With so much to see, a photographic vacation is a definite option. The Mirage has an erupting volcano with beautiful man made water features. Another fun free event is the nightly pirate fights outside of the Treasure Island, which features a live battle between a pirate ship and a colonial ship. Other free offerings in the area include the fountains of the Bellagio Hotel, featuring a light show, complete with sound teamed with a water display. Also at the Bellagio is the Gallery of Fine Art. The Paris Las Vegas has a replica of the Eiffel Tower. A lot of big
hotels in Las Vegas offer these events.
In the old Las Vegas downtown area, you can visit the Fremont Street Experience. The area is closed to vehicular traffic, converted to a large outdoor mall. In the same neighborhood, you can visit the Golden Nugget Casino and view the world's largest gold nugget. Heading back up the Strip, is the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, featuring its landmark Tower which stands a total 1,149 feet high, making it the tallest freestanding observation tower in the U.S. The view of the Las Vegas Strip from the fully enclosed observation deck is spectacular.
