If you’re talking about getting Jersey Boys tickets, you’re talking about getting tickets to one of the biggest shows in theatre today. You’re talking about getting tickets to the story of how a group of young blue-collar workers came to become pop music stars.
The show itself is documentary style and is actually based off the life of "The Four Seasons", the group of singers responsible for classics such as "Walk Like a Man" and "Big Girls Don’t Cry". It has been produced all around the world, from Broadway to Chicago to Melbourne and Sydney. It heavily dramatizes how "The Four Seasons" came to be, how they came to prominence and of course, their eventual breakup.
What made the story of "The Four Seasons" so inspiring is that they thrived despite the British music invasion of the 60s. While they never started a movement, they nevertheless remained a strong part of American music history.
The first time anyone could buy
Jersey Boys tickets was way back in October of 2004 at the University of California, San Diego. One day short of a year later it would have previews on Broadway and would open a month from that at the August Wilson Theatre in November, 2005. The original cast included John Young as Frankie Valli, Robert Spencer as Nick Massi, Christian Hoff as Tommy DeVito and Daniel Reichard as Bob Gaudio. As of April, 2011, Jersey Boys has been held over two thousand times and previewed almost forty times.
It would not be till February 2008 when it would make its way across the pond and onto the West End. It retained the same creative team that made it successful in Broadway, and added Ryan Molloy, Stephen Ashfield, Glenn Carter and Philip Bullock as Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, respectively.
The musical itself has four sections, each corresponding to one of the four seasons. Each section is narrated by a different member of "The Four Seasons". Tommy DeVito narrates Spring, Bob Gaudio narrates Summer, Nick Massi handles Fall and finally, Frankie Valli wraps things up by narrating Winter.
Reviews of the musical have been universally positive.
Jersey Boys also responds to the needs of the world around it as they have held performances in the name of charity. Its West End cast performed as part of the Royal Variety Performance in 2008, which is commonly held to raise funds for the "Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund". In 2010, they would perform again, this time to raise funds for "Children In Need".
The musical itself is still being performed around the world at various venues and it shows no signs of slowing down.
