Located slightly northwest of the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps climb the steep hill between the Piazza di Spagna, originally the sight of the Spanish embassy, to the church of Trinita dei Monti. This beautiful staircase is located in one of Rome's most prominent shopping areas. Just down the street one can find shops for famed designers Gucci, Prada, Burberry, and more.

The most important religious structure in Rome is not, in fact, in Rome at all. Vatican City is actually the smallest country in the world. The Vatican is the central location of the Roman Catholic Church, and houses thousands of historic figures and artefacts. It also features Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel, a sight that can only be truly appreciated in person. Walking tours of the Vatican are available throughout the day.
